"Primes Seventeen": two concerts by Icarus vs Muzak in Croatia
The co-operation of Icarus Ensemble with Croatia began in 2000, and has produced several important international events, thanks also to joint tours with the Croatian national ensemble, Cantus.
Now it is carried on with two concerts performed by Icarus vs Muzak: on October 5, the ensemble will be guest of the University of Zagreb Academy of Music – the main educational institution in Croatia, and on October 7 of the Days of Milko Kelemen Festival in Slatina, one of the main musical events of Croatian life, dedicated to the figure of the great composer who was born here.
The programme features a piece by Keleman and by a selection of significant authors among the Italian generations born after the 60s. All the works presented were written in the new millennium, starting with those by the Romitelli, Verrando and Nova group, who represented Italian music at an international level starting from their Parisian period, to which is added that by Marco Longo, composer trained in the 2000s, who will also conduct the ensemble.
Longo, moreover, will conduct a master class at the Zagreb Academy of Music on the path of Italian music of the second millennium (October 5, 11 am).
The master class has the main purpose of connecting the Italian movement – that is well known in Croatia, as a result of the performances by Icarus Ensemble together with Cantus Ensemble in various editions of the Music Biennale Zagreb – with the influences it produced within the Croatian compositional poetics.
The tour has the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb, Emilia-Romagna Region and ATER Fondazione.
