North Macedonia – ErosAntEros at MOT International Theater Festival
Since few days, ErosAntEros has been in Macedonia, in Skopje, taking part in the 48th edition of the MOT International Theater Festival (November 8-18).
The theatre company presents Agata Tomšič's and Davide Sacco's latest work, GAIA, a project that aims to raise awareness of the essential problem of human existence: the climate change caused by natural disasters, pollution, and exploitation of our planet, the cause of which is Man himself.
Gaia, the primordial goddess of inexhaustible creator power, the divine force of the Earth and the origin of life itself, is the protagonist and narrator of a journey through time crossing three eras of life on Earth: cosmogony, Anthropocene, and post-apocalypse – the past, present, and future of our planet.
The project enters in relation to the places where it is hosted. The performance is preceded by a workshop with young actors and climate activists from the area, who will be on stage with Agata Tomšič standing up for Gaia against pollution and human exploitation. Moreover, the ephemeral set design of fog and projections is adapted to the spaces it meets, experimenting with new good practices that reduce the environmental impact of the production and circulation of shows.
The workshop is taking place (November 6-10), the show GAIA will be on stage on November 11.
The performance has the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Skopje and is part of the programme of activities promoted on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the bilateral relationship between Italy and North Macedonia.
The tour is supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade, Emilia-Romagna Region and ATER Fondazione.
