Germany – Teatro Nucleo at the Sommerwerft International Theatre Festival
The 22nd edition of the Sommerwerft is in full swing in Frankfurt – the international festival which every summer creates an open and colourful cultural space on the banks of the Main, in which, for 17 days, theatre and music “come to the streets and take place where real life takes place”, under the banner of a freely accessible theatre culture, of social interaction, diversity and cohesion.
Teatro Nucleo is guest of the festival with the performance Kashimashi by and with Natasha Czertok.
The actress, playwright and teacher has been indicated by critics as an "emblem of a theatre totally immersed in the contemporary world, a young, political theatre, imbued with feminism and which often deals with the theme of gender stereotypes and their overcoming".
In this work, Natasha Czertok stages an overview of female figures, embodying, with a substantial dose of self-irony, the different stereotypes, the "strange beasts" that are aspects of a woman's personality, of all women’s personality, who are many women in one.
Simple, everyday objects – a fan, a balloon, a pack of cigarettes – make the different characters emblematic, very different sound environments accompany and complement the actions, contributing to the creation of a kaleidoscope of creatures that come to life on different levels: dramaturgical, choreographic and symbolic.
Kashimashi is on stage on August 5 (at the Theatre stage, 8:45 pm).
