Germany – Panzetti / Ticconi's new work premieres at the Tanz im August festival
INSEL, the German word for island, is a choreographic and sound creation which chooses a geographical condition as a symbolic reference to turn the gaze towards the individual and into the inevitable encounter with one's own shadow.
Ginevra Panzetti’s and Enrico Ticconi’s research has often explored a physical and tangible place to reflect on its symbolic content, such as the garden, the city square, urban or natural landscapes. With this new work, the duo has investigated the symbolic connection between an imposed or inner isolation and a detachment from the world – spiritual and physical states which seem familiar in our times.
INSEL is their first work developed with four performers. After several artistic residencies in France, Italy, and Japan, the choreography makes its world premiere in Berlin within one of the most famous dance festivals in Europe, the international contemporary dance festival Tanz im August, this year at its 35th edition.
The performance is on stage from August 10 to 13 at the Sophiensæle Festsaal (different times). Moreover, Ginevra and Enrico are among the guests of the series of meetings "Beyond the Stage", in which the audience has the opportunity to find out more about some of the artists on the programme and the works presented.
INSEL is produced by Associazione culturale VAN, of which Ginevra Panzetti / Enrico Ticconi are part, dance production centre based in Bologna supported by the Ministry of Culture and Emilia-Romagna Region. Tanz im August/HAU Hebbel am Ufer is among the various Italian and European co-producers of the show.
