France – Accademia Bizantina at Opéra Dijon
On May 10 Accademia Bizantina will perform with contralto Delphine Galou in the prestigious and renowned Dijon Opera house presenting a programme which rediscovers whole sections of Italian sacred music during the baroque period: Agitata (at the AuditOrium, 8pm).
Vivaldi, Jommelli, Gregori, but also Stradella and Caldara are at the centre of this “daring” recital – as we read in the presentation – which disloses a world of spirituality kneaded by sentiment and emotion.
Delphine Galou’s warm alto timbre invites us into the very heart of the most contrasted affections of the sacred sphere: terror, restraint, lamentation, excited exaltation, contemplative calm, fervour, an entire gallery of emotions.
And this is exactly the vocation of the Orchestra led by Ottavio Dantone: to restore the richness of sensation and inspiration of Baroque music to prove how it can still intrigue and amaze a modern and diverse audience.
