“Faenza Prize Talks”: online meetings with the artists of the 62nd Faenza Prize

Every Tuesday, until May 9, on the MIC International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza’s social channels

The selection for the 62nd edition of the Faenza Prize, International Competition of Contemporary Art Ceramics – one of the most important in the world –, was concluded in February.

The Jury composed of Claudia Casali, director of MIC - International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Judith Schwartz, professor emeritus of NY University, Ranti Tjan, director of the Rotterdam Academy of Fine Arts, Tomohiro Daicho, senior curator of MOMAK in Kyoto, Irene Biolchini, guest curator of MIC Faenza, selected 70 works from 1101 submissions by 723 artists or groups from 60 countries.

“It was a very challenging work,” commented Director Casali, “which involved the Jury in several stages of comparison. We evaluated the works in relation to the contemporary nature of the proposal, to a current vision of sculpture and ceramic installation. (…) It will be a really interesting exhibition from many points of view –poetic, technical, artistic.”

While waiting for the exhibition, that will take place from July 1st to October 30th, 2023, to get to know the protagonists of this edition, the MIC Faenza proposes the "62nd Faenza Prize Talks": the artists selected and competing for the 62nd Faenza Prize will tell their work in an online meeting, in dialogue with one of the jurors.

The Talks take place live on the MIC's Facebook page and YouTube channel every Tuesday at 4 pm (CET), until May 9.
The artists connect online to illustrate their work, discuss the relationship between ceramics and contemporary art, and answer questions from the public. In the previous days, brief introductions of the artists each time involved are published on FB.

After the live broadcast, the episodes will remain recorded on the MIC's YouTube channel and website. In the first appointments (March 14 and 21), two groups of artists met jurors Claudia Casali and Ranti Tjan.
