Dumbo Gets Mad - US Tour 2023
Dumbo Gets Mad is a psychedelic pop project by Luca Bergomi, who founded it between Reggio Emilia and Los Angeles in the summer of 2010.
The band is on tour in the United States, a 17-date tour that starts in Los Angeles on May 10 and will end in Brooklyn on April 5. In between, stops in Arizona, Texas – including the prestigious SXSW Music Festival in Austin –, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, British Columbia (Canada), Washington, Nevada, and others in California.
Four albums released to date by the band. In 2011, the debut album “Elephants at the Door”, that showed a fresh approach towards a mixture of musical styles and defined the project as psychedelic pop. The album achieved a lot of excellent reviews on the web, and the project started to create a solid fan base all over the world, thanks to its pristine sound and style.
After touring Italy and Europe, in 2013 a new record was released, “Quantum Leap”. This album is even more textured than the previous and explores plenty of musical genres, resolving in a mind-blowing psychedelic jam. “Thank You Neil”, released in 2015, is a more soulful record, inspired by American astrophysicist, author, and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson. The live recorded album shows a more elegant and minimal approach to the production and received wonderful reviews.
After four years of stop, in 2019 the new single "Makes You Fly" was released with the French Label “Nice Guys”, in anticipation of a new full-length album. “Things Are Random And Time Is Speeding Up” was released in February 2021, and has solidly confirmed the psychedelic nature of the project.
This is the work Dumbo Gets Mad presents in the United States, coming back after a tour that began on the East coast in 2020 and was unfortunately interrupted by the pandemic. Together with Luca Bergomi (vocals, guitar), the live band features Carlotta Menozzi (vocals), Lorenzo Rotteglia (drums), Ivan Torelli (bass).
The tour, curated by Space Agency (North America) and International Music And Arts (Carpi, Modena), has the support of Emilia-Romagna Region as part of the internationalization actions established by its specific law in favour of the development of the music sector, in co-operation with the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco.
