China – “Waiting for Godot” directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos at the Wuzhen Theatre Festival
After the debut in January 2023 at the Teatro Storchi in Modena and a long tour in Italy, on October 20 and 21, thanks to the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai, Samuel Beckett’s masterpiece Waiting for Godot directed by Greek maestro Theodoros Terzopoulos will be guest of one of the most important festivals in China and Asia: the Wuzhen Theatre Festival, co-funded by Chen Xianghong, Huang Lei, Stan Lai, and Meng Jinghui, and organized by Culture Wuzhen Co., Ltd.
In the hands of Terzopoulos, the great Beckettian classic becomes one lens to decipher the Other. On stage, a cast of extraordinary actors: Paolo Musio, Stefano Randisi, Enzo Vetrano, and young Giulio Germano Cervi and Rocco Ancarola. The original music is by Greek composer Panayiotis Velianitis.
The show, defined by critics “an impeccable setting up of Beckett that moves and dismays”, is produced by ERT Emilia Romagna Teatro / Teatro Nazionale and Fondazione Teatro di Napoli - Teatro Bellini, in co-operation with Attis Theatre Company.
Waiting for Godot is one of the “Specially Invited Plays” at the Wuzhen Theatre Festival.
