Accademia Bizantina in Poland and Germany

Concerts in Gdańsk at the "Actus Humanus Festival" and in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. December 15 and 16

Actus Humanus Festival, taking place on December 13-17, is the most important Polish festivals of early music and one of the major in Europe in this field, thanks to the carefully selected repertoire and the presence of masters of historical execution.

The festival welcomes with great pleasure the return of Ottavio Dantone and his Accademia Bizantina orchestra, who in previous performances in Gdańsk left the memory of 'unforgettable evenings'.

Ottavio Dantone will conduct an ‘intimate’ version of Johann Sebastian Bach's unfinished masterpiece The Art of Fugue, one of the highest points ever reached not only by the genius of Bach, but in the history of music. This immortal work was performed by Accademia Bizantina in prestigious European halls and recorded for the DECCA record label in 2017. The performance by Accademia Bizantina stops where Bach left it.

The concert is scheduled on December 15 (8 pm) in Artus Court, one of the fascinating places of the city where the festival takes place.
The project has the support by the City of Gdańsk and the Polish Ministry of Culture in co-operation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Warsaw.

After Poland, Accademia Bizantina will be in Germany, in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, for the concert "Weihnachtliche Mysterien" (The Mystery of Christmas).

As is the Orchestra's custom in the month of December, a programme related to the holydays was created, and at the same time one of their most cherished repertoires is taken up: that of the Concerti Grossi. In this programme, the soloists of the concertino emerge (two violins and cello), and then merge in perfect communion with the rest of the string orchestra.

The concert is scheduled on December 16 at the Reitstadel concert hall (7 pm).
