The multimedia creations by art studio fuse* in China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan
The multimedia creations by art studio fuse* continue to arouse great interest at an international level and are the protagonists of exhibitions and festivals in countries all over the world.
Just during December, the international appointments are in China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan (and in November they were in Holland, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, United States).
In Yokohama, fuse* participates in the Yokohama Dance Collection festival with two live media performances: Ljós and Dökk, staged on December 10 and 14.
Ljós is an immersive experience. During the performance, a software modifies in real time all the scenic elements accompanying the dancer’s interpretation, carrying the viewer into a surreal and dreamlike space, a dimension with no gravity nor time, made of sounds and images.
In Dökk, the system analyzes in real time the messages shared on social networks by people from all over the world, inferring the emotional state through a sentiment analysis algorithm. These data, together with the performer’s biometric data, make the performance different every time it is staged.
The performances are presented in Yokohama with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo.
In Saudi Arabia, China, and Taiwan, fuse* presents different versions of Artificial Botany, an installation and ‘ongoing’ project that uses botanical illustrations to recreate new artificial images with morphological elements extremely similar to the original images, which are re-elaborated capturing the information and the artistic qualities typical of man and nature.
In Riyadh, the 3-channel version of Artificial Botany is part of “Tales of Nostalgia”, a wide-ranging exhibition curated by the Misk Art Institute. Twelve Saudi and international artists reflect upon the notions of time, memory, and nostalgia, exploring new possibilities and alternate narratives with the aid of emergent technologies.
Opened in early October at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Art Gallery, the exhibition will run until January 15, 2023.
In Taichung, the ‘unfolded’ version of Artificial Botany is on display from mid-November to January 2nd at the National Taichung Theater.
In Hong Kong, the installation is part of “Hylozoism: An Arts & Technology Exhibition”, a collective exhibition organized by the Hong Kong Design Institute. Focused on the connections between the world, the earth, and the people, it features five international and local artists. Like the five elements, the five artworks on display present a “neo-nature” to propose the concept of symbiosis as an endless cycle of mutual benefits and coexistence.
Opened on last December 3rd at the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) Gallery, the exhibition will run until April 2023.
