Spain – Soqquadro Italiano at the XXXI Festival Camino de Santiago

On August 5 in Jaca, the ensemble performs “Migrant Music”

The 31st edition of the Festival Camino de Santiago is underway. The cultural and musical event promoted by the Diputación Provincial de Huesca opened on July 29 and will run to August 28 in a series of localities along the Camino de Santiago in Aragon, from Canfranc to Ruesta, passing through Villanúa, Castiello, Jaca, Santa Cilia, Santa Cruz de la Serós, San Juan de la Peña, Bailo, Berdún, Artieda.

The Festival, consolidated as a musical event of recognized prestige, presents a repertoire ranging from the Middle Ages to the Baroque, and the concerts take place in locations chosen following the artistic characteristics of those periods, such as churches or cathedrals in Romanesque, Gothic or Baroque style.

Soqquadro Italiano returns to perform at the Festival, which hosted them in past editions, and on August 5 presents the concert Migrant Music in the Jaca citadel (10:30 pm).

It is a musical programme exploring different musical repertoires: from Sephardic music to Argentine music, from traditional Italian music to the music of the Mediterranean basin with its cultured and popular baroque repertoire rich in interweaves and rhythms borrowed from different cultures.

Claudio Borgianni and Vincenzo Capezzuto, founders of Soqquadro Italiano, started from the concept that music, by its nature, needs to go beyond its borders: it transmigrates, emigrates, creates twinning, sees new countries and is happy to meet new cultures. Not only that: a musical idea can travel impressive distances and Andalusian, Turkish, Greek, and Italian musicians can find common rhythms and phrasing.

Vincenzo Capezzuto’s amazing solo voice and the ensemble including Luciano Orologi (clarinet, percussion), Giancarlo Bianchetti (guitar), and Marco Forti (double bass) will accompany the audience in a world of sounds of strong emotional impact, free from patterns and labels. The concept and artistic direction of the performance are by Claudio Borgianni.

The tour is supported by ATER Fondazione.
