Riccardo Muti conducts the Cherubini Orchestra at the 70th Ljubljana Festival

On July 19, the concert in the Slovenia’s capital at the Cankarjev Dom

The 70th Ljubljana Festival – the oldest, largest and most important festival in Slovenia, is already in full swing (opened on June 21, running until September 8).
As every year, the Festival presents a vast and varied programme of ballet and opera performances, musicals, chamber and symphonic concerts, masterclasses, workshops for children and young people, and much more (there are over 80 events), and on the occasion of this important anniversary, great names on the international scene were invited to share the celebration.

Among them, Maestro Riccardo Muti, who will conduct his Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra in a concert at the Cankarjev Dom on July 19 (09:00 pm).

The programme of the concert includes the works by three Romantic composers –Bizet, Lyadov, Liszt–, each one based on a poetic idea.
Georges Bizet’s Symphony in C “Roma” is inspired by his stay in Rome. Les Preludés by Franz Liszt are among his first works created in the form of the symphonic poem. Also in this form is The Enchanted Lake by Anatoly Lyadov, who found the poetic idea for this work in the world of fairy tales.

The honorary patron of the event is H.E. Carlo Campanile, Ambassador of Italy in Slovenia.
The concert is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Ljubljana.
