Japan – HARLEKING by Ginevra Panzetti / Enrico Ticconi
After the artistic residency at the Kinosaki International Arts Center (KIAC) in Toyooka for research and creation of their new work debuting in 2023, Ginevra Panzetti / Enrico Ticconi artistic duo is on stage in Tokyo with their choreography HARLEKING, a work already successfully presented in several European festivals.
One can cite, as an example among others, the words by Maria Luisa Buzzi of Danza&Danza: “Inspired by the best-known of the comic servant characters from the Italian Commedia dell'Arte, Harlequin, and by an iconographic background that goes back to the Italian ancient wall decoration of the Grottesca, the duo composes a satirical-monstrous duet, of rare organicity, perfect times, masterfully interpreted”.
HARLEKING’s mode of communication has a specific hypnotic quality in which its contents, often extreme and contradictory, merge to create a fluid, metamorphic system wherein anything can happen, yet all is blurred.
The performance is staged on October 21 at the Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo (06:30 pm) as part of the 22nd Week of the Italian Language in the World.
The new work, entitled Insel, was presented as work-in-progress on last October 10 at the KIAC in Toyooka. The production process will continue in Germany, France, and Italy, and the performance will debut in Europe.
Ginevra Panzetti & Enrico Ticconi are part of VAN, dance production centre in Bologna supported by Italian Ministry of Culture, Emilia-Romagna Region, and ATER Fondazione. The tour is supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo.
