Germany – “Hamlet” by Dewey Dell

The performance presented in the programme the Schaubühne Lindenfels dedicates to the Italian contemporary scene. In Leipzig, December 8-10

Dewey Dell returns to perform for the third time at the Schaubühne Lindenfels, multidisciplinary theatre and production centre in Leipzig where the artistic collective based in Cesena will be on stage on December 8 and 10 with Hamlet, a performance that gives a new connotation to the iconic Shakespearean character.

Hamlet seems lost and immobilised by the order to avenge his father’s murder, but he is unable to take action until the very end of the tragedy. His mental condition is similar to the condition of a possessed person: his identity is suspended, he has to exit from himself in order to create space for ‘someone else’ to occupy his body, becoming nothing but a container.

On a set of very strong impact, Teodora, Agata, and Demetrio Castellucci stage a dance of plastic bodies, with choreographies made of evocative intersections, poses always in tension, and transformation of the body into something else.

The performance is presented within the “Scena Italia” programme curated by the Schaubühne Lindenfels and dedicated to artists from the Italian dance and performance contemporary scene.
