France and Slovakia – Tribute to Pasolini with the exhibitions by the Centro Cinema Cesena

In Lyon (February 28-April 16) and in Bratislava (March 3-30), the film set photographs of "The Hawks and the Sparrows" and “Mamma Roma”

A tribute to Pier Paolo Pasolini on the 100th anniversary of his birth with the exhibitions curated by the Centro Cinema Città di Cesena, made with the precious materials of its rich photographic archives.

The photos on display were taken by two of the most important set photographers of Italian cinema: Divo Cavicchioli (1924 – 1996) and Angelo Novi (1930 – 1997), who worked with Pasolini on the set of various films.

In Lyon, "The Hawks and the Sparrows": a film by Pier Paolo Pasolini in the photographs by Divo Cavicchioli  proposes images of the film the director considered "the most loved”.
Some of them are well-known, as they accompanied and promoted the film since its release, but for the most part they are unpublished and printed for the first time, including those testifying to the episode in the circus, shot and later cut and not included in the released film.

The exhibition is organized by the Écrans Mixtes Festival in co-operation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Lyon and will run from February 28 to April 16. Curator Antonio Maraldi, responsible for the Centro Cinema Cesena, will attend the opening.

In Bratislava, “Mamma Roma” by Pier Paolo Pasolini in the photographs by Divo Cavicchioli and Angelo Novi celebrates the 100th anniversary of Pasolini's birth and the 60th of the film release – the second feature film by the director, who had chosen great Anna Magnani for the leading role.
The images focus on the crew, the actors, and the set but do not forget the context in which the film was shot.

The exhibition, open from March 3 to 30, is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava in co-operation with the Kino Lumière in Bratislava and goes with the cinema review promoted on the occasion of Pasolini’s anniversary.
