Finland – Teatrino dell'Es at the "Pikku Aasi" International Puppet Theatre Festival
After an interruption due to the pandemic, the 5th edition of the "Pikku Aasi" International Puppet Theater Festival takes place in Vaasa from October 28 to 30.
The Festival is organized by the Pikku Aasin Puppet Theater in collaboration with Vaasa Cultural Center and Suomen UNIMA, the Finnish UNIMA (Union Internationale de la Marionnette) national centre.
Five puppet theatre groups have been invited to perform in Vaasa, including Vittorio Zanella's Teatrino dell’Es, who presents his new work Puppets on a Trampoline.
It is a performance expressly created for the Festival and in collaboration with the Pikku Aasi Nukketeatteri, as the organizers want to highlight again, over the obstacles created by the pandemic, the art of puppetry, a world that children love so much and that they can see live again.
The themes appearing in the play are Circus, Friendship and Environment. The presentation is in a language that is easy for everyone to understand – as the narrator is Pulcinella.
The performance mainly uses the original music composed by Vittorio Zanella and inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, adding a few key words... The languages are Finnish and Swedish, as well as the Neapolitan dialect.
Puppets on a Trampoline is staged on October 29 (4 pm) and on October 30 (10 am).
Moreover, on October 28 (3 pm to 4:30 pm), Vittorio Zanella leads the free workshop My puppet. Everyone is welcome to make their puppet out of recycled material. The construction time is approximately 15 minutes.
Teatrino dell’Es’s tour is supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Helsinki, in collaboration with ATER Fondazione.
