"Colpi di Scena" Festival grows international

New partnership between ATER Fondazione and Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri

Colpi di Scena, the celebrated Biennial Festival of Theatre for Young Audience, is now international thanks to a new partnership between ATER Fondazione and Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri.

The announcement in a press conference that took place in the frame of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair on last March 24.

The 12th edition of the children theatre festival dedicated to professionals and their latest productions will be held in Forlì from June 28 to July 1st, 2022. It will unite representatives of festivals and theatres from abroad thanks to the coordination and support by ATER Fondazione which, in line with its new mission statement, has chosen to collaborate with Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri Production Centre, the organizer of this important showcase since 1995.

The collaboration between the two institutions, which signed a memorandum of understanding, aims at giving greater visibility to the Emilia-Romagna children theatre productions and to increase their circulation abroad. Therefore, about 15 international professionals and three European theatre companies: PerpetuoMobile Teatro (Switzerland), Simone de Jong and Dadodans (The Netherlands), will be invited to Forlì, with a special focus on the new Dutch children theatre scene.

Colpi di Scena will also host new productions by companies from all over Italy and a wide representation of the regional ones, with the new shows by four renowned production centres – Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri (Forlì), Solares Fondazione delle Arti-Teatro delle Briciole (Parma), Teatro Gioco Vita (Piacenza), La Baracca-Testoni Ragazzi (Bologna) – plus companies such as Teatro Perdavvero, Teatro Evento, Teatro Due Mondi, and TCP Tanti Cosi Progetti.

Colpi di Scena is a prestigious meeting space for cultural promotion for both artists and directors operating in theatre for young audience – Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri co-artistic directors Claudio Casadio and Ruggero Sintoni state. “Moreover, it has always been effective for the circulation of Emilia-Romagna high quality productions in Italian and European theatres”.

And ATER Fondazione President Patrizia Ghedini added: “Presenting this festival at the prestigious Bologna Children’s Book Fair means expanding cultural boundaries to achieve a broader interdisciplinary vision that links publishing and theatre, thereby comparing creative languages, authors and artists who have chosen to dialogue with a target audience of younger generations. Two sources of cultural and economic excellence, well-known and active in Italy and abroad.”

The idea is also to develop virtuous relationships between these two cultural excellences. In fact, ATER Fondazione also invited representatives of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) to Forlì, taking advantage of the fact that this year the Emirate of Sharjah is the Guest of Honor at the Bologna Children's Book Fair (BCBF) and that in November Italy will be the Guest of Honor at the 40th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, with a rich program of initiatives organized by the Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute (conferences, shows, concerts, exhibitions and workshops).

In this regard, ATER submitted to the Sharjah Book Authority managers some theatrical proposals by the Emilia-Romagna production centres, shared with the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Abu Dhabi Ida Zilio Grandi, to be presented at the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (May 19-29, 2022) and at the SIBF (November 2-13, 2022), in which the BCBF traditionally collaborates and participates.
