Artemis Danza on tour in Vietnam and South Corea
Vietnam and South Corea are the countries hosting the new tour of Monica Casadei and her company Artemis Danza, which will be on stage with the performance Traviata.
Traviata is part of a project by Monica Casadei that investigates and interprets the characters (female, in particular), the key-themes, and the archetypes of opera according to a modern choreographic approach.
In the tribute to Giuseppe Verdi and his famous melodramma, dance and opera duet and give shape to a flow of images free from any desire for didactic adherence, but closely linked to Violetta and her unhappy story.
Monica Casadei’s Traviata is told from Violetta’s point of view: Violetta in white, hope of pureness, Violetta in red, a bleeding heart, Violetta multiplied in many female characters… Monica Casadei and her dance company get inside the tragedy of a woman whose hope for a feeling of love is denied.
The tour in Vietnam is supported by the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi and is organized in the framework of the Executive Program of Cultural Cooperation between Italy and Viet Nam and in collaboration with the Hai Phong People Committee, the Vinh Phuc People Committee and the Youth Theatre of Viet Nam, one of the main cultural institutions of the country.
The performance will be staged in Hai Phong on September 19 at the Hai Phong Opera House (h 07:30 pm), in Vinh Yen on September 20 at the Vinh Phuc Theatre (h 07:30 pm), and in Hanoi on September 22 at the Hanoi Youth Theatre of Viet Nam (h 07:30 pm).
Furthermore, in Hanoi, on September 21, Artemis Danza conducts a masterclass for the students of the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema. The students will then have the opportunity to perform on stage with Artemis Danza’s professional dancers at the Youth Theatre the next day.
The journey of Traviata will continue in South Korea: in Incheon, on September 25, at the Incheon Culture & Art Center (h 06:00 pm), and in Anyang, on September 27, at the Anyang Arts Center (h 07:30 pm).
Here the performance is presented thanks to the support of the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul. The Institute organized the staging in Incheon in co-operation with Solopera and the one in Anyang in co-operation with the Anyang Foundation for Culture and Arts.ts.
