Sweden – Instabili Vaganti on tour with a new show
Instabili Vaganti theatre company is on tour in Sweden with a new work, that is staged abroad for the first time: Lockdown Memory, a performance-lecture about the experiences lived by artists from all over the world during the pandemic.
The performance is part of a wide and innovative international project conceived by Instabili Vaganti: Beyond Borders. Experimenting new formats and new languages combining theatre, dance, literature, digital arts, documentary film, the project investigates and explores the concept of border meant not as a limit but as an opportunity for two parties to meet and involves artists from all over the world through a remote collaboration.
In fact, the co-protagonists of Lockdown Memory are actors and dancers (performing in video) from South Korea, Brazil, India, Sweden, United States, Columbia, Mexico, Pakistan, China, and Iran.
«We worked following an approach of absolute broad-mindedness» say director Anna Dora Dorno and performer Nicola Pianzola, «interacting with all the artists who have collaborated with us over the years, trying to build a virtual space for artistic sharing, without any border, in which we could continue to create, relating to each other. Comparison – cross-cultural, linguistic, disciplinary – has always characterized our work and we did not want to give up this aspect due to the pandemic».
Anna Dora and Nicola are the actors on stage who also take care of the video direction from their desks.
Textual and visual notes, physical and musical scores, conversations in zoom and scenes from the daily life of the performers let us relive the different moments and situations caused by the lockdown – between hyper-connection and isolation – and give voice to the delicate social situation of the countries of the artists involved: from the protests of 'Black lives matter' in the United States to the social revolt in Chile, from the mass exodus from the Indian megalopolis to the return to normal in the city of Wuhan after the tragedy.
Lockdown Memory is on stage in Vessigebro (October 25), Halmstad (October 26), Göteborg (October 29), and Ätran (October 30-31).
The tour is made with the support and collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm and ATER Fondazione.
