Spain – "Stabat Mater" by Soqquadro Italiano

On July 24, the ensamble stages a “totally new” Vivaldi

Soqquadro Italiano in on tour again and on July 24 performs in Oviedo the show Stabat Mater – Vivaldi Project (at the Auditorio Príncipe Felipe, h 08:00 pm).

The artistic challenge by the ensamble based in Bologna is to interpret ancient music in a contemporary context, in a never conventional dialogue with the composers of the past.

Stabat Mater - Vivaldi Project is a show in which music, singing, and dance merge.
Claudio Borgianni rewrites a totally new and inedited Vivaldi, Vincenzo Cappezzuto, in the double role of singer and dancer, goes with extreme ease from singing to dancing to recitation of short texts, the choreographies by Mauro Bigonzetti gives life to a theatrical and heavily contaminated dance: a really effective performance that let the audience lose the horizon of the boundaries between the different artistic genres.

And the Mother of Sorrow, that woman Vivaldi tell us with feverish tension and breath-taking pauses, is the symbol of our perpetual quest for consolation, orientation, and security. Maybe that woman represents ourselves living in the disorientation of our daily lives.

The event is promoted by the Ayuntamiento de Oviedo and Soqquadro Italiano's tour is supported by ATER Fondazione.
