Serbia – Soqquadro Italiano at Novi Sad Music Festival

On October 22, the ensemble presents “Migrant Music”

For Claudio Borgianni and Vincenzo Capezzuto – founders of Soqquadro Italiano, one of the most original and innovative groups of today’s European ‘Classical Crossover’ music scene – music by its nature needs to go beyond its borders. It never stops, never lets itself be caught, transmigrates, emigrates, creates twinning, sees new Countries and is happy to meet new cultures. And not only that: a musical idea can travel impressive distances and Andalusian, Turkish, Greek, and Italian musicians can find common rhythms and phrasing.

Starting from this concept, they have conceived the project Migrant Music, that explores different musical repertoires: from Sephardic music to Argentine music, from Cape Verdean morna to traditional Italian music and from all over the Mediterranean basin with its ancient and popular Baroque repertoire rich in sound interweaves and rhythms borrowed from different cultures.

Migrant Music is the concert the ensemble performs at NOMUS – Novi Sad Music Festival on October 22, in the Synagogue.

The formidable voice of Vincenzo Capezzuto, managing to move with great dynamism and naturalness between extremely different genres, and the ensemble including Luciano Orologi (clarinet and percussion), Giancarlo Bianchetti (guitar), and Marco Forti (double bass) will accompany the listeners in a world of sounds of strong emotional impact, free from patterns and labels. The concept and artistic direction of the performance are by Claudio Borgianni.

The event is supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade.
