Live stream premiere of the new show by Balletto di Roma and Teatro Gioco Vita
The Little Flower King is a new production born from the encounter of two historic companies: the Balletto di Roma – celebrating in 2020 sixty years since its foundation, and Teatro Gioco Vita – which began its shadow theatre productions at the end of the Sixties and was a major player in the creation of children theatre.
After a path full of obstacles due to the health emergency (the debut was expected in 2020), the performance is on stage on Sunday, 14 February, at 06:00 p.m., at the Teatro dei Filodrammatici in Piacenza, and will be live streamed on the Teatro Gioco Vita’s and Balletto di Roma’s websites, where the video will be freely available over the next 24 hours.
The two Companies took inspiration from the story by Květa Pacovská – sculptor, painter, and primarily illustrator of children’s books, winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1992 –, to develop a project able to explore the merging of the languages of performing arts but expressly conceived for children.
The result is “a tale for music, shadow, and dance”, a double-handed creation by Fabrizio Montecchi –direction and set design– and Valerio Longo –choreography– on the music by Paolo Codognola and with the dramaturgy by Enrica Carini and Fabrizio Montecchi.
Dancers of Balletto di Roma Isabella Minosi and Marcello Giovani perform the main characters of the story, the little Prince and the Princess, accompanied by the amazing drawings by Teatro Gioco Vita based on Květa Pacovská’s illustrations.
The choice of the ‘online premiere’ wants to give an important sign of recovery, in the hope that it might be a sort of prelude to the re-opening of theatres and the resumption of on-site and touring activities with attending audience.
