Germany – Accademia Bizantina at the BAROKTAGE Festival 2021
Accademia Bizantina is once again guest of the BAROKTAGE Festival, the annual event of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin in cooperation with the Pierre Boulez Saal.
The programme of the ten-day festival includes operatic performances and numerous concerts that in this edition explore in particular the diverse musical culture of France and key works of European opera that incorporates Italian and French traditions like those by Christoph Willibald Gluck.
On November 13, at the Pierre Boulez Saal, Accademia Bizantina conducted by Ottavio Dantone will perform Le cinesi, a one-act piece of music drama and original ‘play within the play’ composed by Gluck to a score by the prominent librettist and court poet Pietro Metastasio in 1754, even before he wrote his significant reform operas for Vienna and Paris.
The soloists are: Delphine Galou (Lisinga), Ema Nikolovska (Tangia), Chiara Skerath (Sivene), and Spencer Britten (Silango).
