France – Teatro Gioco Vita at the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes
For 60 years Charleville-Mézières has been a privileged place for the puppetry arts.
The Institut International de la Marionnette and the Ecole Supérieure Nationale des Arts de la Marionnette (ESNAM) are based here, and every other year here takes place the World Festival of Puppet Theatres, created in 1961 by Les Petits Comédiens de Chiffons company.
The festival includes not only a rich programme of shows by international companies – often coproduced by the Festival itself – but also artistic residences, activities of promotion and distribution of shows, exhibitions, workshop, meetings with the audience.
Teatro Gioco Vita participates with the new production Sonia and Alfredo, directed by Fabrizio Montecchi, who also cured the set design. The show was made in co-production with MAL - La Maison des Arts du Léman (Thonon-Évian-Publier).
Five performances are scheduled from September 21 to 23 (at Mozart Hall).
Based on Catherine Pineur’s work, Sonia and Alfredo is a simple story about friendship and solidarity.
Through few, essential words and puppets drawn simply but to great effect, two actors/animators create on the white shadow theatre screen characters able to represent the great themes of life with delicacy and touching simplicity.
The show will continue the tour in France with new performances in Aÿ-Champagne (September 26) and in Donchery (September 27-29).
