The National Opera of Ukraine for #WeAreItaly and #laculturanonsiferma
Aware that culture should not stop and of the importance of solidarity between Nations in these extraordinary conditions of pandemic, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the National Opera of Ukraine 'T. Shevchenko', the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Kyiv have decided not to stop their joint action, keeping alive the dialogue with the audience and continuing to work together to consolidate the relationships between the two Countries and spread the inestimable world musical heritage.
Over a month, every week, a video produced with smartphone shooting by the musicians of the National Opera of Ukraine will be presented.
The project, curated by Nicola Franco Balloni, is linked to the campaign of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation #WeAreItaly #StayTunedOnIt, and is also a message of solidarity and friendship the Ukrainian cultural world expresses to Italy and to Italian cultural world.
The first piece of music presented is symbolic in Italian artistic and national history: the chorus of “Va, Pensiero” from Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi. It is a special gift not only to Italy but also to Emilia-Romagna.
In fact, the piece shares the initiative #MusicaSenzaFrontiere (#МузикаБезКордонів) promoted by the Ravenna Festival, which in 2018 showed solidarity with Ukraine with the concerts The Roads of Friendship conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti in Kyiv and Ravenna.
As a further present to Emilia-Romagna, the chorus of “Va, Pensiero” will enrich the content of #laculturanonsiferma and will be soon broadcast on Emiliaromagnacreativa and Lepida Tv, remaining available on demand of the latter platform.
