Giorgio Zagnoni awarded Order of the Rising Sun
On September 28, 2020, at 05:30 p.m., in Bologna, ceremony of the decoration of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon awarded by the Japanese government to Giorgio Zagnoni, internationally renowned flutist, and current president of the Filarmonica Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
The ceremony takes place in the historic City Hall Palazzo d’Accursio. In the presence of the Mayor Virginio Merola, the Ambassador of Japan in Italy Hiroshi OE will award Maestro Zagnoni the prestigious honour for having promoted the relations of friendship between Japan and Italy throughout his ten-year career.
As president of the Filarmonica Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Giorgio Zagnoni has been engaged in training Japanese musicians in Italy and in encouraging their concert activities. Moreover, since 2014, as Honorary Member of the Committee of the Japan Opera Festival – organized every year by Sawakami Opera Foundation – he has been attending operas and concerts in Japan, offering advice to the Japanese staff, and the support of his great experience has enabled sublime results.
The deep relation of friendship between Zagnoni and Japan is also testified and strengthened by the fact that for 50 years the Maestro has been using a flute hand made by a Japanese long tradition and great renown producer.
After the ceremony, Giorgio Zagnoni will perform the Flute Quartet No. 1 in D major, K. 285, by W. A. Mozart accompanied by Paolo Mancini (violin), Corrado Carnevali (viola), Francesco Parazzoli (cello), professors of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna Philharmonic Orchestra.
