Emilia-Romagna for Africa Day 2020
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, this year's celebration of Africa Day 2020, Monday May, 25th is characterised by a digital format.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has designed a virtual marathon with artistic and cultural content to mark the anniversary of the birth of the Organization of African Unity (now African Union) and also the friendship and solidarity between Africa and Italy facing the health emergency (on the Ministry’s YouTube channel, Facebook and website).
The European Union has launched the initiative ‘Meet the Neighbours of the Neighbours during COVID-19 times’, which offers young people, and particularly students, the chance to learn more about the different cultures and civilisations of ‘the neighbours of their neighbours’, aiming at contributing to enhance mutual understanding of each other culture and build a solid basis to strengthen inter-cultural dialogues.
A shared platform offers to those who are confined to their own homes due to the emergency a selection of 40 high quality films by European, Balkan, African, Mediterranean authors. The initiative started on May 9th and runs until June, 4th, with a special ‘focus’ on May 25th.
Emilia-Romagna Region shares the EU initiative ‘Meet the Neighbours of the Neighbours during COVID-19 times’ promoting, in its turn, a programming of films and music dedicated to Africa on Lepida Tv on May 25, 27, 28, 29, at 09:30 pm.
