Croatia – “The Lady of Porto Pim” by Teatro Gioco Vita
The Lady of Porto Pim by Teatro Gioco Vita is a ballad for actors and shadows based on the short story by Antonio Tabucchi. It is a tribute to a writer who thought literature is “something that involves desires, dreams and imagination".
This is why in the adaptation by Fabrizio Montecchi, also director and set designer, the writer himself, in the guise of the actor-manipulator Tiziano Ferrari, tells this story of love and death, and accompanies us through his own testimony made of words, actions, evocations, in this brief journey into the mystery of the human soul, in a performance combining contemporary and traditional shadow theatre.
In 2018, The Lady of Porto Pim was awarded “Grand Prix Best Show” of the 3rd Festivalul International de Animatie of Timisoara.
In December 2013, it was performed in Lisbon, the city Tabucchi had always loved and had a special relation with, and where he died on March 25, 2012. Tabucchi’s widow attended the show and expressed her appreciation for Teatro Gioco Vita’s work with a certain emotion.
The Lady of Porto Pim is on stage in Zagreb on September 18th, opening event of the 53rd International Puppet Theatre Festival - PIF.
Teatro Gioco Vita participates in the Festival with the support by the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb. It is the first tour abroad of the theatre company after the stop due to the COVID-19 emergency.
