Austria - Accademia Bizantina at the Innsbrucker Festwoken der Alten Music

On August 22, the ensamble based in Ravenna performs "Vivaldi d’amore"

In spite of this difficult period, the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music managed to confirm the 2020 edition, the forty-fourth, taking place from July 31 to August 30, even with some changes in the programme and many safety rules.

Accademia Bizantina, already guest of the Festival, comes back with Vivaldi d’amore, a concert exclusively dedicated to the composer, on August 22, 08:00 p.m., at the Tiroler Landestheater.

The Innsbrucker Festwoken der Alten Music introduces it this way:

«Vivaldi and love. His love of opera, his love of God, his love of the violin, but also of other special instruments such as the viola d'amore are expressed in music by the Accademia Bizantina with a selection of works of different genres.
The French alto Delphine Galou plunges into the dramatic oratorio of the courageous struggle of the Jewish widow Judith against the Assyrian besieger Holofernes and into the turbulent operatic events featuring an Amazon queen in Ercole su'l Termodonte.
However, the winner of the Gramophone Award 2018 also devotes herself to contemplative sacred chants and arias from Vivaldi's cantatas.
Alessandro Tampieri, concertmaster of the Accademia Bizantina, turns to the warm-sounding Concerto in D minor, RV 394 for viola d'amore.
Together with its director Ottavio Dantone, the Accademia Bizantina will also be performing concertos for strings».
