Motus’s new production, Rip it up and start again, makes its debut in Geneva. Directed and created by directors Daniela Nicolò and Enrico Casagrande, it was conceived with the students of the Manufacture - Haute école des arts de la scène in Geneva, an important center of study where Daniela and Enrico have been teaching since 2014.
We read in the directors’ notes that it is a «show-concert-karaoke-manifesto», and that the lyrics of the Post Punk songs of the early '80s have been its starting point.
«We invited the 15 actors to research, collect, compose and decompose texts about their life choices, their relationships with family and theatre, as a reflection of the biographies and lyrics by those tormented artists, from Ian Curtis to Lydia Lunch... This way the dramaturgy was born. Not to nostalgically mythologize an era, but to "vivify" these experiences by wondering about the relationship with their own time».
From May 23rd to 26th Rip it up and start again is on stage at the Comédie de Genève.
It will be then presented in Lausanne, Sierre, Modena, Milan, Turin and Paris.
