The Kina Festival is organized by Ishyo Arts Centre, a member of the Rwandan Association for Theatre and Youth (ARTEJ), in order to develop children and youth’s creativity and access to the Arts and at the same time, reinforce capacity and give exposure to young local professionals through appropriate high-quality arts workshops and performances by renowned international artists.

“The Art of collaboration and re-generation” is the theme of the 10th edition of the festival .

The programme presents companies from Italy, Mozambique, South Africa, South Korea, Norway, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Congo, Belgium, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as Rwandan ones.

Besides a number of workshops held by the international guests, a conference on “Developing theater for young audience in the African context” will also take place.

La Baracca theatre company stages On-off, a performance for children aged 1 to 4.
Developed from an “experiment” carried out in the crèches, the show is about the children’s relationship with light and darkness. It is a tribute to their amazement at the behavior of light and to their interest towards controlling it and its intensity through the use of switches.

On-off is on stage on May 15th and 18th.
On May 16th, actor Andrea Buzzetti -the protagonist of the show- will hold the workshop "Creating for 3 to 6 children".
