La Baracca “Ambassador” in Peru
“Ambasciatore” (ambassador) is a project by La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi which aims to bring free performances and theatrical workshops to children living in situations of social and economic distress in different parts of the world.
After having been in Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, Mozambique, Romania, Nicaragua, South Africa, and Zambia, Ambasciatore goes away again to Peru, where the show The Little Elephant will be staged in schools, thanks to the co-operation by WeWorld-GVC Onlus.
WeWorld-GVC is an independent Italian organization born from the union of GVC Onlus (established in Bologna in 1971) and WeWorld Onlus (founded in Milan in 1999), with the aim of increasing the impact of Development Cooperation projects and Humanitarian aid in the 29 countries of intervention, including Italy.
The shows are part of EU Aid Volunteers (European international volunteering program for humanitarian missions abroad), initiative of Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) managed by the European Agency for the Education, Culture and Audiovisual (EACEA).
La Baracca has chosen a show for children aged 2 to 6, The Little Elephant, freely based on a tale by Rudyard Kipling.
Conceived and interpreted by Bruno Cappagli, it tells about Bubu, who has to wash all the family’s socks. It’s a boring job, but, while washing them, as if by magic, the socks come to life and turn into jungle animals.
Bubu will meet animals of all colours and sizes, and he will also be accompanied by many songs, because every sock has a sound that makes him sing. They are sounds and voices recalling Africa, that let us imagine the earth, the trees and the green, muddy water of the river.
From May 20th to 23rd, the show will be set in various schools and public places in Abancay, capital of the Apurimac Region.
