Greece - "The Land of the Earthworms" by Chiara Guidi
From July 3rd, Chiara Guidi is in Greece for an artistic residency in co-operation with the Dodoni Summer Festival of Ioannina, that will end up with the staging of The Land of the Earthworms, tragedy for children inspired by Alcestis by Euripides.
The performance is created through a laboratory based on the Errant Method, culmination of a peculiar research on original forms of theatre for and with children Chiara Guidi has cultivated with the Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio since the 1990s.
The Errant Method brings into play both sides of representation, action and reception, including as part of the scene both the children’s gaze and their tendency to spontaneously take the initiative, and building a relation between actors, educators, and children, within the field of the performing arts.
The show is an open theatre form, and needs the children to take form and to be realized. Children, led by the figures of the narrative, enter the performance space and determine the progress of the story through their decisions and interventions.
On July 9th and 10th, The Land of the Earthworms is on stage in the wonderful theatre of the archeological site of Dodoni.
