Austria – ‘La Dori’ by Accademia Bizantina
In 2019, the music world commemorates the 350th anniversary of Pietro Antonio Cesti’s death.
Cesti had worked for many years at the Innsbruck court of Archduke Ferdinand Charles. During this period, he composed his most famous operas, and among them La Dori, overo Lo schiavo reggio, a tragi-comic opera in three acts to a libretto by Giovanni Filippo Apolloni, that was first performed in the court theatre in 1657.
The Innsbruck Festival of Early Music (Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik), which has proposed several of Cesti’s operas over the years, celebrates Cesti staging La Dori for the first time.
To perform this real ‘rarity’, real ‘specialists’ have been invited: Ottavio Dantone and his Accademia Bizantina.
