France - Accademia Bizantina at the Beaune International Baroque Music Festival
Since its foundation, the Beaune International Baroque Music Festival has developed an artistic policy aimed at the rediscovering of Baroque opera on period instruments and the reconstruction and interpretation of unpublished works according to the latest musicological research.
In this 36th edition, Accademia Bizantina, a well-known and appreciate guest of the Festival, presents a rarely performed Vivaldi, the opera in three acts Giustino RV717. First performed at the Teatro Capranica in Rome on the occasion of the 1724 Carnival, it is considered one of Vivaldi’s most ambitious operas and a pivotal work in terms of style, showing the development of his lyric language.
In the second concert, Accademia Bizantina accompanies countertenor Andreas Scholl in the “Invocazioni Mariane”, pieces by Vivaldi and unpublished cantatas by Porpora, Vinci and Anfossi.
The Accademia Bizantina ensamble is conducted by maestro Ottavio Dantone.
