China – “Photos of Italian Cinema” from the Centro Cinema Cesena collections
The Centro Cinema Città di Cesena has been dealing with film stills since the early 90s. Its archive has more than 150.000 pieces, both photographic prints and negatives, and thanks to the national competition CliCiak scatti di cinema (cinema photo shoots) -organized yearly and expressly conceived to bring out the work often underestimated of still photographers-, the Centro Cinema has got a photo library on contemporary cinema of more than 22.000 pictures.
The exhibition Photos of Italian Cinema comes out from this precious archival heritage. It has been organized by the General Consulate of Italy in Shanghai and the Municipality of Wenzhou, in co-operation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai, on the occasion of the Italian Weeks in Wenzhou – “Unlock Italy”.
The exhibit is a great photo-anthology of more than 50 images testifying the excellent work by set photographers over the past 75 years which create a fascinating album of places, sensations and characters, depicting the different Italian regional locales -from Aosta Valley to Sicily, from small villages to big cities-, the sets of great directors, the moments of hilarity or "greed", on stage and off stage.
The exhibition was opened by the Consul General of Italy in Shanghai Michele Cecchi on December 14th and is set at the Wenzhou Morality Palace until December 31st.
