Everyone knows the story of how God created Adam and Eve, first the male, and then the female, as an afterthought. Two distinctive genders with separate destinies.
This story points out something that’s missing: the “in between”, something happening in the middle, other than male and female. In this play, that’s how the child William, who did not like to be called this name and all she wanted was to play with the other girls, grew up. Indeed, she grew up! And now she needs to tell the spectators - men, women and all of those who are in between, or those who are a little bit of this and a little bit of that - her story, or actually her Genesis. That’s a story that everyone knows, or better…a story that not everyone knows yet.
