Looking back at the '70s

It is curious that the decade of the 1970s was not too much frequented by Italian cinema in the new millennium. And when this happened, the look was almost never marked by regret or nostalgia, also because after the thoughtless and optimistic years of the economic boom, problems explode in that period that deeply affect Italian society.
The 1970s seen by Italian cinema in recent decades have been hard years, characterized by dramatic events on the civil level such as the Moro case (Good Morning, Night by Marco Bellocchio) or the murder of Peppino Impastato (One Hundred Steps by Marco Tullio Giordana). These were years in which political commitment found new forms of concretization, particularly in Bologna (Working Slowly (Radio Alice)) by Guido Chiesa, Paz! by Renato De Maria).
But also elsewhere there is an air of restlessness (Radiofreccia by Luciano Ligabue), with unexpected consequences (The Fugitive by Andrea Manni). Moreover, there are films that touch small (I’m Not Scared by Gabriele Salvatores) and big crime (Romanzo criminale by Michele Placido and the following TV series, directed by Stefano Sollima).
A more conciliatory look can be found in a series of titles (from The First Beautiful Thing by Virzì to Those Happy Years by Luchetti, passing through Bar Sport by Martelli and Kryptonite! by Cotroneo) of a more daily nature, even if the real "amarcord" of the decade remains Tutto l'amore che c'è (All the Love There Is) by Rubini, between adolescent emotions and aspirations.

All the films here mentioned have been documented by some of the best still photographers of the latest generations, whose work is collected in the CliCiak fund of the Centro Cinema Città di Cesena, from which the photos on display come. The exhibit is curated by director Antonio Maraldi.
