China - “The Barber of Seville” from Artemis Danza’s point of view

An “action ballet” in which Figaro becomes a symbol of modern man. In Hong Kong, on November 6th

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Gioachino Rossini’s death, Monica Casadei and her dance company Artemis Danza faces one of his most famous operas, The Barber of Seville.

The pièce -described by the choreographer as “ballet d’action”-, focuses on the character of Figaro, represented as the prototype of nowadays successful man.
Rigorously dressed as a manager, he symbolizes all those who -whit strength, liveliness and savoir faire - meet the expectations of a society imposing every day to achieve one’s aims optimizing time and energy.

Upon the stage, the whole Company plays the role of Figaro, whatever male or female, acting with the determination, the energy and rigour of a "task force".

The performance in Hong Kong has been realized thanks to the support by the Italian Cultural Institute and the General Consulate of Italy in Hong Kong.
